Louis XV  cartel with chinese figure

France 18th century. 
Gilt bronze case with rocaille decoration composed of scrolled acanthus leaves, flowers and foam. The openwork parts are decorated with friezes with cut-out quatrefoils. 
At the top, a figure with Asian features is seated in front of a bower, ostensibly holding a sceptre. The richly jewelled costume and the headdress indicate an emperor or at least a high dignitary. 
Enamelled dial, ringing on request cord. 
Dimensions: 80 cm high, 40 cm wide, 20 cm deep.
