Panel attributed to the Master of Hoogstraeten, named after the church of Saint Catherine in Hoogstraten near Antwerp.

The cult of Saint Barbe spread throughout the West in the fifteenth century, becoming particularly popular in Germany.
Saint Barbe was the patron saint of quarrymen, miners and artillerymen.
