Louis XV-period scabellon with tritons
Attributed to Pierre Legros the Elder (1629–1714) and Benoît Massou (1627–1684)

Dimensions: 121 cm x 57 cm at the base x 33 cm at the top
Each of the three sides is adorned with a triton holding a fish spouting a fountain of water.
The model for this footstool is well known, as it was produced in marble and bronze for the grove by the Arc de Triomphe in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles. Two marble examples are held in the collections of the Palace of Versailles.
