DESCRIPTION +

Retaining its beautiful original gilding and featuring a rich, flowing design with intertwining motifs, this pair of wall sconces, decorated with acanthus leaves, has two arms topped by finials depicting coiled flowers on one side and a flower bud on the other, with a geometric decoration of chiselled dots.
The openwork candleholders, also chiselled on the underside, emphasise the visual harmony of this piece. The variety of techniques employed in this light fixture—including smooth bronze, hammered bronze and chiselling—demonstrates the exceptional quality of the era’s finest bronze craftsmen.
They are characterised not only by their larger size compared to the vast majority of Louis XV wall sconces, but above all by their strongly curved form and their chiselled finish, which sets this pair apart as being of the very highest quality.
