A pair of carved and gilded wooden wall consoles, decorated with leafy palm leaves, flowers and scrollwork from the Regency period
An elegant pair of small wall consoles in finely carved and gilded wood, adorned with motifs typical of the Rocaille style.
Each console features a richly openwork composition. The central section is decorated with a large stylised flower framed by leafy scrolls within an architectural niche and surmounted by a scroll from which leaves emerge on either side.
The lower section is enlivened by a pair of large, deeply carved palm leaves, divided by a broad, finely chiselled ear of wheat and highlighted by a central scroll ending in a cascading floral rosette.
The trays, with their undulating contours, are moulded and delicately carved with a stylised foliage motif around their edges, reinforcing the overall harmony of the composition. The carving is distinguished by its fine execution and the balance of the openwork, which lend lightness and refinement to the whole.
French work from the Regency period, in its beautiful original gilding.
