DESCRIPTION +

A very large desk, entirely in blackened pear wood, featuring a geometric decoration of brass fillets. It features three drawers at the front and three faux drawers at the back. The moulding is scroll-shaped, with the central drawers set back. The lock plates and faux lock plates are decorated with a satyr’s mask wearing a leafy crown, finely chiselled in gilded bronze.
A double frame of flat brass strips runs along the sides of the moulding, harmoniously encircling a central female figure in gilded bronze. This central mascaron wears a crown tied in the shape of a shell, from which finely chiselled ribbons emerge on either side.
The top, clad in red morocco leather embossed with a fine iron pattern, is surrounded by blackened pear wood and encircled by a corbin-beak moulding and geometric spandrels featuring shells, all in gilded bronze.
It rests on four arched legs with identical descending decoration, featuring gilded bronze Indian masks wearing leafy headdresses in the form of a crown, a wide necklace emphasising the face, and scrollwork on either side. They are finished with finely chiselled spires.
Enveloping base with chiselled and gilded bronze foliage decoration.
Routine restoration and maintenance.
