A cast piece from the late 18th century, probably of Italian origin. An artefact from the Grand Tour. This model is inspired by the ‘Venus of Capua’, a Roman marble statue from the 2nd century AD, which is housed in the Archaeological Museum of Naples and was discovered in the 18th century. She probably held a shield in which her image was reflected.
