A parrot is depicted perched on a setting of rockwork and flowers, looking to the right. The composition, combining rockwork elements and floral motifs, is organised around the sense of movement. The whole rests on a terrace, also rendered in rockwork, featuring a scene of a stag being chased by a dog. 

In the lower right-hand corner, near the parrot, two Saxon porcelain flowers are in full bloom: one yellow with a pink centre, the other white with a yellow centre. 

The enamelled dial, signed N. L. Guillemain in Paris, features Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes. Their blue hue is characteristic of pieces produced around 1750.
