DESCRIPTION +

A Louis XVI-style period suite in moulded, carved and gilded beech, comprising a sofa and four armchairs.
The sofa has six legs with fluted legs and solid armrests with upholstered cuffs. The design of the armrests is similar to that of the armchairs. They are straight, ending in scrolls, and join the connecting blocks via a corbelled bracket with fluting, also finished with a scroll. The connecting blocks of the sofa and the set of four armchairs with flat medallion-shaped backs are decorated with stylised rosettes. Curved apron and sides
Beautifully upholstered in Italian fabric in harmonious colours, featuring a pattern of garlands, medallions and flower-filled baskets topped with large bows, in soft shades of gold, pink, blue and red.

Very fine original gilding.

A Louis XVI-period piece attributed to Jean Baptiste Sené, who was granted his master’s certificate in 1769.
